Shodo aka Cedar Spring will speak on “Opening Reality”
BIO: Shodo’s life began with a childhood love of in woods, wildflowers, and sunny
meadows, and took a wandering path through physics, activism, psychotherapy,
Zen training, and more. During formal Zen training, about 20 years ago, her life
work showed itself. She named the Mountains and Waters Alliance, began
studying and teaching, and wrote Open Reality to offer it more fully.
Along the way, Shodo lived in Duluth for a few years, worked in Alaska as a Zen
teacher, volunteered with the Cambodia AIDs project, led the 2013
Compassionate Earth Walk along the KXL route, and settled in southern
Minnesota on a bit of land destined to be a center for spiritual community and
environmental action.
Shodo has just retired from her “day job” as a psychotherapist, to devote full time
to Mountains and Waters Alliance.
Shodo is her Buddhist name, and means “true path.” People here knew her as
Cedar.
