SUNDAY 11.03.24 : REV. JEAN KWAKO AND FRIENDS

 Jean Kwako and Friends   is our Speaker this week – She will bring us stories of our past, from 1913, through two pastors. Bessie Magnuson, our founder, and Reverend William Hutchinson, affectionately known as “The Rev” and most recently “Bill.”

TITLE :  Remembering our Roots as a Spiritualist Church

BIO  : Since about 1982 Jean Kwako and Jerry have been a steady part of our church, including Jean as Board President  2 years – and 4 other years as a Trustee.   Now she is one of our new Board Members starting her 2-year term just this past Sunday.   

Jean’s first career was as an RN and later she graduated as a Spiritualist Chaplain. She worked in this second field over 10 years at St Mary’s-Essentia. before retiring in 2005.  

“Rev” Hutchinson was a close friend of their family and every year after he retired, she & Jerry took him on a “family vacation” to his home area in Washington and Vancouver Island. Plus there were other travels – like a trip they all took to Europe. Jean says he was like a father to her.  Her own dad died when she was only 3 and they were both in a serious truck accident.  We are fortunate to have her vivid memory, through all the stories she heard from Rev and Helga Ragan and also lived through herself.
